To get started with TurboTax Desktop, visit the TurboTax Desktop download page at installturbotax.com and select Download for the product you purchased. Once the installer downloads to your computer, locate the `.exe` file and open it to install TurboTax 2026 by following the on-screen instructions. After installation, sign in to or create your Intuit Account, enter your license code, and then you’re ready to start using TurboTax.

- Go to InstallTurboTax.com 2026.
- Login with your Intuit account or create a new one.
- Enter your 16-digit TurboTax license code and click "Continue."
- Select the correct TurboTax version for your purchase.
- Click the "Download" button to save the installation file.
- Find the file in your computer’s download folder.
- Double-click the file and follow the on-screen installation instructions.
- Agree to the terms and conditions to proceed.
- Wait for the installation to finish and click “Finish.”
- Open the software, sign in, and start preparing your taxes.

- Prepare Your System: Close all running applications and temporarily disable any antivirus or firewall software to prevent installation issues.
- Insert the CD/DVD: Place the TurboTax CD into your optical drive.
- Start Installation:
- If the installation does not start automatically, press Windows + R to open the Run dialog, type D:\setup.exe (replace D with your CD drive letter), and press Enter.
- Follow the prompts on the screen.
- Activate TurboTax:
- After installation, open TurboTax and sign in to your Intuit Account.
- Enter your license code when prompted to complete activation.
